Commercial Gate Co faced a unique challenge with the Meridian Energy job, which involved harnessing the elements in the deep south of New Zealand, approximately 700 km away from their headquarters. The planning phase was crucial due to the remote location and specific requirements of the site.

The site, situated in Mossburn, housed one of Meridian Energy’s advanced wind farms. The access road was narrow, leaving very little space to manoeuvre, and the remote nature of the area meant that every aspect of the installation had to be meticulously planned and executed.

One of the key challenges was the absence of power on the site, which necessitated innovative solutions during the planning phase. Commercial Gate Co had to devise a solution for an 8-metre cantilever gate positioned on the edge of a split-level bank, adding to the complexity of the installation.

The solution involved using Commercial Gate Co’s own freight and a hi-ab crane to transport and install the gate. Despite the challenging conditions and remote location, the installation process went smoothly and was completed within a single day. The gate has now been in place, functioning seamlessly and meeting the client’s requirements.

The outcome of this project was a success story. Despite the logistical hurdles and remote location, the installation went off without any issues. The gate was transported and installed within a day, showcasing Commercial Gate Co’s expertise in managing complex projects even in challenging environments. As a testament to the quality and reliability of their work, the gate has been in place for eight months, serving its purpose effectively. The positive feedback from Mark further underlines the seamless execution and successful outcome of the Meridian Energy job.
